If your child is due to move to primary school in September 2021, now is the time to start thinking about where you want them to go. Each school will have different arrangements in this unusual time for seeing what they do and this might not involve a physical look around. Contact the school and have a look at their website to get information about what they are doing.

The Lancashire County Council website has further information about how and when to apply. As a brief note, the application process is open from 1st September 2020 to 15th January 2021. Please make sure you apply by then or there is no guarantee you will get any of your preferences.

Welcome back to all our children and a big welcome to the new families!

It is continuing to be an interesting year, but we are hoping for the best. We are now set up into 4 bubbles across the school. Each bubble has its own team of staff, children and times. The bubbles will be moving around the four set ups throughout a four week period. We have integrated the safest procedures we can to protect everyone, while ensuring children will continue to have the outstanding education you expect at Rockwood.

I have attached the latest Risk Assessment here and to the policies section of the website. Be aware, as things and advice changes, we will continue to change it :)

You should all now be aware that we are asking you to provide your own LABELLED coats/waterproofs, wellies, hats/gloves, change of clothes, lunch box (if they are stopping for lunch) and any special provision for any specific health or diet needs. We will not be using nursery clothes etc to reduce infection transfer risks.

Please stay as close to your bubble times as possible. I know the situation is not ideal, but we have found it very difficult piecing bubbles together and any changes or shifts have a domino effect on the set up.

I hope this new set up is short-lived, but in the meantime, I will keep you informed of any changes. We are looking forward to seeing you all and know that together, we can make this work!

Faith

So we are now proceeding with reopening to more children from 22nd June following a change in guidance from Lancashire County Council.

We are starting with the children who are moving to primary school in September and following our careful risk assessment plan (click on the link to read this) to try to reduce risk and infections by setting up 4 'bubble' groups of up to 12 children at a time, with staggered drop off and pick up times. Please try to keep to your times as this will help make things safer for your family and ours!

We are opening Monday to Thursday so deep clean can be completed on Fridays by staff. If there is a case in a bubble, the bubble will be isolated for the advised time and guidance on testing etc will be followed.

All being well, we will run this way for two weeks and if we have no outbreaks, we will aim to reitegrate as many other children by the end of term as we can fit in the bubbles.

If you do want your child to access some time this term if possible, please drop us an email with what you would prefer.

Well 2020 has been an interesting year!  Here at Rockwood we have missed seeing so many of our children for the last few months, but have valued keeping in touch with those who have been able to return. We wish all our school leavers who are moving on to primary school all the best for their futures. We know you will have lots of fun and although the set up might be a bit different at the start, we're sure you will all do well!

To those children returning in September, we are working hard to review how our bubbles will be set up and how to keep everyone safe. It will be a bit different to our usual groupings and staffing, but we're trying hard to make sure it is the best early education your child can have, while making sure it's as safe as we can plan. We will need to be ensuring that each bubble continues to have staggered drop offs and pick ups, to reduce the risks to you and your families, as well as our staff and their families. We know it might cause some problems for you, we will try to work around your commitments too, but bear with us, we'll do the best we can.

We break up next week on 17th July and will reopen to children from 7th September. The teachers will stop sending out home learning ideas after next week. We will be notifying you of the bubble your child is in and their session times week commencing 31st August. We apologise for the short notice this might give you, but we need to make sure it is right before we proceed and children do lots of different sessions here at Rockwood, so it is a bit of a giant zigsaw puzzle! Please remember to keep us updated of any changes in contact details so we can still email and phone you.

Please keep yourselves and your families safe. Try to enjoy the holiday.

Kind Regards

Faith

Dear Families

Along with other schools, we are presently only open to those families who are identified as Key Workers or are vulnerable. If you need to know more about which families are identified as eligible, please follow this link: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision

From 21st April we will be open 8:30 am to 3:15 pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays. We will have staff supporting on a rota basis in order to protect themselves and their families too.

If you have any need for urgent care over these next weeks under one of the identified government criteria, please email Faith on: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or on the school mobile: 07715 084548.

Stay safe and take care of your families during this difficult and unusual time. We will be in touch once we have further information on reopening from the DfE.
